Warner Bros. Pictures presents the superhero epic THE BATMAN from director Matt Reeves. Robert Pattinson stars in the titular dual role as Gotham City's masked avenger and his his alter ego, the reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne.
For two years now, Bruce Wayne has been roaming the dark streets of Gotham City and puts the criminals of the city in fear and terror. With Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis) and Lieutenant James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) as his only confidant. amidst a corrupt network of officials and high-ranking personalities, the lone avenger has become lone avenger has established himself among his fellow citizens as the sole authority on retribution. When a killer targets Gotham's elite with a series of sadistic attacks, a trail of cryptic clues leads a trail of cryptic clues leads the world's best detective deep underground, where he encounters figures such as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot aka Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro) and Edward Nashton aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). While his investigation leads him closer and closer to his goal and the extent of the perpetrator's plans becomes clear, Batman must Batman forge new relationships in order to unmask the culprit and stop the abuse of power and the corruption that have long plagued Gotham City.
Alongside Robert Pattinson ("Tenet," "The Lighthouse"), Zoë Kravitz ("Big Little Lies", "Fantastic Beasts: Grindelwald's Crime"), Paul Dano ("Love & Mercy," "12 Years a Slave"), Jeffrey Wright ("James Bond 007: No Time to Die," "Westworld") and John Turturro ("Transformers" film series, "The Plot Against America") give life to the famous and notorious inhabitants of Gotham's life. Other roles include Peter Sarsgaard ("The Magnificent Seven," "Interrogation") as District Attorney Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson ("Farewell Amor") as mayoral candidate Bella Reál as well as Andy Serkis ("Planet of the Apes" film series, "Black Panther") and Colin Farrell ("The Gentlemen, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them").
Reeves ("Planet of the Apes" film series) directed from a script he co-wrote with Peter Craig and which is based on characters from DC. The character Batman was created by Bob Kane in collaboration with Bill Finger. Dylan Clark ("Planet of the Apes" film series) and Reeves produced the film. Executive producers were Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo and Simon Emanuel.
The director's creative team included Oscar-nominated cinematographer Greig Fraser ("Dune," "Lion: The Long Way Home"), production designer James Chinlund and editor William Hoy, who previously assisted Reeves on the "Planet of the Apes" films, editor Tyler Nelson ("Rememory") and Oscar-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran ("1917," "Little Women," "Anna Karenina"). The music was written by Oscar winner Michael Giacchino (the recent "Spider-Man" films, "Jurassic World," "Star Wars," "Upstairs").
