Inspired by a true story, "Wolke unterm Dach" tells of a touching father-daughter relationship shaped by loss and pain as well as hope and happiness.
Love hits Paul (Frederick Lau) and Julia (Hannah Herzsprung) unexpectedly and changes everything: The freedom-loving stewardess and the adventurous male nurse find an enchanted home, and with daughter Lilly (Romy Schroeder) their happiness is complete. Until Julia's sudden death tears the family apart from one second to the next. Paul falls into nothingness. For Lilly's sake, he suppresses his grief and overtaxes himself in his efforts to be her father and mother at the same time, to somehow find the loans for the house and to forget a photo he found in Julia's things. The situation at his workplace in the clinic also comes to a head with a new head doctor. Paul is in danger of losing his footing. Lilly, on the other hand, clings to her imagination and a secret that keeps drawing her back to the attic of the house. A lot has to happen before they realize: Together they can make it and give their lives a new turn.
Frederick Lau, who most recently enjoyed success with the cinema comedy "Nightlife," takes on the role of single father Paul. His bright daughter Lilly is played by new discovery Romy Schroeder. Hannah Herzsprung, who just starred again in the hit series "Babylon Berlin," plays the deceased mother Julia.
In addition to Barbara Auer, who mimes mother-in-law Lore, Kida Khodr Ramadan plays Paul's best buddy and work colleague Malik. Nicolette Krebitz as head doctor Nora completes the main cast. Other roles include Reinout Scholten van Aschat, Ulla Geiger, Daniel Zillmann, Katja Bürkle, Anastasia Papadopoulou, Aurelia Ott, Wowo Habedank and Barbara Meier.
The film was directed by Alain Gsponer, who most recently enjoyed success with the feature films "Heidi" and "Youth Without God". Dirk Ahner is responsible for the screenplay, which is based on the personal fate of Chris Silber. "Wolke unterm Dach" is a production of PANTALEON Films and Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany.
